Freeman

Freeman Vineyard & Winery was established by Ken Freeman and Akiko Freeman in 2001. They are bound by a shared passion for refined, cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Driven by the firm belief that California is capable of producing wines every bit as complex and compelling as those of Burgundy, they explored more than 300 properties before choosing a site on which to build their dream. Their search ultimately led them to western Sonoma County, with its steep hillside terrain and cooling ocean breezes. From the first vintage, the Freeman style went against convention. While others pushed the limits of ripeness, Akiko and consulting winemaker Ed Kurtzman sought balance and refinement. Today, the winery is defined by those same pursuits, with Akiko at the helm as winemaker, and Freeman is recognized internationally as one of California's most acclaimed small producers and a sole Japanese winery owner in California.

Greetings to the wine and food lovers of Singapore!

It is such a pleasure to know that our wines are available to discerning Singaporean wine aficionados. When Freeman Vineyards & Winery was founded 20 years ago, we believed that Sonoma County in Northern California could produce world-class grapes. Our vineyards are farmed organically and the grapes are harvested on the early side, retaining the refreshing acidity that makes them perfect with food. Akiko has spent thousands of hours in the winery over the years, refining her winemaking technique to guarantee the best results for our clientele.

Our wines have been recognized by critics and consumers as being among the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay available from the U.S.. We have developed a following among the world’s top chefs from restaurants like Benu, The French Laundry, and SingleThread Farms.

We feel honored knowing that the Freeman wines will be paired with the diverse multicultural cuisine in Singapore, renowned as one of the most compelling dining destinations in the world. We craft wines for the dinner table, but if you are a connoisseur who maintains a wine cellar, any of the Freeman Pinot Noir bottlings are ideal candidates; an additional 5-10 years in the cellar will contribute even more depth and complexity to wines that are already beautiful and elegant in their youth.

With love and respect,

Ken & Akiko Freeman
