Producer's 1st single vineyard wine from Ngatimoti.
Vineyard planted in 1997 with 100% Chardonnay and is located in the small settlement of Ngatimoti on the upper banks of the Motueka River. Melanic soils, with large river rocks and limestone.
Layered with white peach and nectarine, Subtle flinty / struck match reduction. Core of citrus (lemon, grapefruit) and crisp orchard fruits. Gentle oatmeal, almond, and lees-derived nuttiness. Refined and slightly more mature-toned compared to Moutere reflecting old vines.
Gentle whole bunch pressing. Settled overnight then transferred to French oak and stainless for wild fermentation. No temperature control. 100% MLF. 16 months on lees in a combination of French oak and stainless steel. Coarse filtration prior to bottling.
