Yeo Xi Yang is the 2022 Singapore National Sommelier Competition champion and founder of Singapore's first Champagne-focused bar, Convivial. He is also a two-time Best Sommelier in French Wines winner (2016 & 2018), renowned for his passion and expertise in Champagne and French wines.

About four years ago, during the COVID period, people began to rethink what truly mattered in life. As the pandemic came to an end and borders started reopening, there was a renewed appreciation for celebrating life's moments, both big and small.
That's when I felt the timing was right to open a dedicated Champagne bar—not just in Singapore, but one that could become a destination in Southeast Asia. I wanted to create a place where people could enjoy Champagne every day, not just on special occasions. Champagne shouldn't be reserved for celebrations; it can be part of everyday life.
I named the bar Convivial. The word means warmth, togetherness, and good company. Champagne is never really meant to be enjoyed alone—it's about bringing people together, sharing conversations, laughter, and creating memories. That's the spirit I wanted Convivial to embody.
